Comfrey salve is a natural, topical ointment made from the roots and leaves of the Comfrey plant (Symphytum officinale). Known for its healing and anti-inflammatory properties, it has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. Our Comfrey Salve is made from the leaves and it is thick and creamy. It contains Extra Virgin Olive Oil which we infuse with Comfrey and later add Castor Oil and beeswax.
Comfrey salve is valued for promoting the regeneration of tissues due to its high content of allantoin, a compound that stimulates cell growth and helps wounds heal faster. It also contains rosmarinic acid, which reduces inflammation and relieves pain. As a result, the salve is widely used for treating bruises, sprains, and muscle strains, as well as for joint pain from conditions like arthritis and gout. Additionally, it can help soothe skin irritations such as eczema, rashes, and minor burns. CAUTION: it should not be applied to deep wounds or used internally due to potential toxicity.
